The sixth Annual Meeting of IAWA-China Group has been successfully held at Anhui Agriculture University (AAU), Anhui province of China, on Nov. 23 and 24, 2019. More than 150 representatives from 35 related institutions and universities attended this annual meeting. Keynote Lectures including "Advances in Bamboo Anatomy", "Wood Anatomy and the IAWA: History and Perspectives", and "Structural Heterogeneity of Wood Cell Wall: Obstacle to Observation” and “Wood Science Research in AAU: History and Present” were presented by Prof. Zehui Jiang, Prof. Pieter Baas, Prof. Yoon Soo Kim, and Prof. Shengquan Liu, respectively. There were 28 participants presenting their current research progress on secondary xylem formation, wood quality, wood identification, cell wall structure, and archaeological wood during technical sessions. The Excellent Presentation Award for students were given to Mr. Liuyang Han from Chinese Academy of Forestry, Ms. Junji Luo from the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan, Ms. Xinxin Zheng and Ms. Xiran Li from Nanjing Forestry University, and Mr. Hao Luo from Anhui Agriculture University. The next IAWA-China Group annual meeting will be held in 2020, at Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University, Hangzhou, China.
